October meeting with Susan Burke teaching a Cape Breton set.

October meeting with Susan Burke teaching a Cape Breton set.

The audio files that were sent to members in early October are now in the library section of our website. Just go to the Tunes and Sets tab, remember to enter the password. Type in “Susan Burke”  in the search box if you wish, and you’ll find it easily. Look in the “Recording” column and you’ll see Audio 1 (Dan Rory MacDonald),and Audio 2 (Christy Campbell, Lord MacDonald, Caber Feidh).  Sorry, we can’t name the audios to make it easier to figure out which one is which due to limitations of the specialized program we’re using!

Enjoy!

….Remember this month’s meeting is the Sunday, same place, 725 Driftwood Lane, Edmonds. Meeting starts at 2:00 with a brief annual group meeting- to elect officers, etc..Then we’ll review The New Shetland Set and the Helen N Robertson set. After we play through our new set we learned last month, to our heart’s content, it’s jam session time!

Get Your Registration In Soon!

Heads up!!! If you’re planning on signing up for the workshop, sooner is better than later! We are quickly filling up, and those needing lodging on-site should register even sooner!

Youth Band Leader – 3rd at Nationals

Vienna places 3rd at Nationals!!!

Vienna places 3rd at Nationals!!!

Congratulations to Vienna Scheyer, long time member of NW Scottish Fiddlers, and leader of the Youth Band, for earning 3rd place at the national Scottish Fiddle Championship this past weekend!!! Vienna competed in the Open division, at the Edinboro U. Highland Games in Edinburg, PA.   Here’s the open class competitors having a friendly jam session..

She played: Lament for the Death of King George V, Major Manson at Clachantrushal, Earl Grey, and the Forth Bridge. Calum MacKinnon, her teacher said she worked hard to get there, and did everything at every lesson he asked her to do, to make those pieces absolutely amazing.

She also won best march! (Could the bagpipe experience have helped out there? Quite possibly!)

Three cheers for Vienna!
